A history of innovation
Since its establishment in 1990, Electronics & Communications Office (ECO) has been at the forefront of broadcasting and communications systems in Lebanon and became the corner stone of the pay TV business in Lebanon.
1990-1991
ECO starts as a regional provider to answer an increased demand on international programs and to provide an alternative to a traditional poor quality terrestrial TV service using coaxial transmission network (CATV).
1994
As a result of research and development studies by ECO, the company began transmitting 18 channels from its analogue MVDS head – end, feeding three owned – and – operated CATV networks in Zahle.
1997
An affiliated company – ECOnet SAL – was established to manage and operate the MVDS venture and covered all Bekaa Valley territories
1998-2001
ECOnet expands its service by covering Beirut, its suburbs, Mount Lebanon and the coast between Saida and Jbeil.
ECOnet introduces as well 35 TV stations and starts focusing on the customer experience and satisfaction.
2001
ECOnet and Arab Digital Distribution (ADD) signed the first exclusive Multi-Service Operator (MSO) agreement in the region.
Throughout the years, ECOnet was committed to provide its customers with a wide selection of distinctive content and channels satisfying all tastes, a reliable service ensuring high availability and a 24/7 after sales support to answer all customers’ inquiries and solve their problems, all at the most affordable price.
More than 20 years later, ECOnet is firmly established as Lebanon’s leading specialists in satellite television, providing a complete digital coverage for the entire nation.
2002
ECOnet becomes the first pay TV to introduce the Multi-Room receiver solution in Lebanon which helped the company to increase its client’s satisfaction.
ECOnet becomes as well officially licensed from the government to distribute its programs via IPTV.
2008-2012
ECOnet signs several distribution agreements with selected premium channels from major TV providers like, ART, La Gardere, Star, MBC Group, Al Jazeera Network, Al Jazeera Sport Channels etc… and starts offering its subscribers the widest selection of 150 channels in different languages and different kinds: Entertainment, sports, movies, documentaries, music, news, and kid’s channels
2012
ECOnet introduces the Multipoint Video Distribution System (MVDS) standard in order to provide its customers with the best picture and sound quality, using the latest technical equipment and technologies.
An affiliated company – Right and Rights SAL – was established as a content aggregator. The distribution agreements were transferred to Rights and rights that licensed ECOnet in addition to multiple Cable Operators (CATV) around the Lebanese territories.
2015
An affiliated Holding company – Media Invest Group Holding – was established. Media Invest Group Holding and H1 Holding part of Holcom Group owns all the shares of ECOnet and Right and Rights.
2016
A new MVDS platform was re-designed; ECOnet platform is certified as up to international security standards by a specialized technical audit firm (Farncombe part of Cartesian) making us the accredited re-distributor of the first-run channels while keeping up with the fast paced technological advances of the industry.
ECO invests in upgrading its transmission network (CATV), the updated network provides 250 encrypted channels all over Zahle Area.
2017
Right and Rights acquire the right to redistribute almost all the premium content and by using the platform of its sister company ECOnet, Right and rights managed to spread its channels all around the Lebanese territories.
Around August 2017 H1 Holding acquired Cablevision SAL
Present
ECO provides technical and commercial consultancy to a variety of pay TV operators in Lebanon and abroad.
ECO researches managed to create an upgraded SMS (Subscribers management system) that suites all the current market needs and match a multiple CAS vendors.
